CERN visits Zaphiro´s live grid monitoring system

Team visit to the substation equipped with D-PMU technology

Zaphiro is one of the High-tech SMEs of the RF2.0 consortium, contributing with their expertise in state-of-the-art grid monitoring systems that use unique Distribution-PMU technology.
On July 11th, Zaphiro received a delegation from CERN at EPFL campus in Lausanne, Switzerland to visit their customer´s substations and to present the installation of their D-PMUs. The visit was complemented by a technical meeting in order to discuss the integration of Zaphiro´s system into the Large Hardon Collider (LHC) network at CERN.

Zaphiro enables the following key use cases for the power grid of the CERN particle accelerator as part of the RF2.0 project

  • Power Flow monitoring
  • Power Quality Event Detection
  • SCADA Integration

Both partners will participate together at the upcoming ESSRI Workshop in Madrid in September with their presentation “Fast Measurement Systems: How to Increase the Power Quality in Accelerator Energy Grids.”
